Mini Mites

Mini-mites is our introductory hockey program for girls and boys ages 4-6. Mini-mites is for kids who have prior experience skating. During the season we help kids improve their skating as well as shoot, pass, and stickhandle. Most of all we have fun! Mini-Mites is not, however, a learn to skate program. If your child does not know how to skate, we recommend the Saint Paul Figure Skating Club’s Learn to Skate Program.

Ages

The Mini-Mite program is designed for children ages 4- 6. Mini-Mites is also appropriate for kids ages 6 to 8 who have no prior experience skating. After a year of Mini-Mites, these kids will be ready to play on a Mite, 8U, Squirt, or 10U team.

When

Registration opens in August. The Mini-Mite season runs typically from the first weekend in November through the end of February.

Where

All Mini-Mite practices are held at Charles M. Schulz Highland Arena in St. Paul located at 800 S Snelling Avenue.

Practices

Practices are held each Saturday and Sunday, except for holidays, from November through February. Practices are primarily held mid-morning but times do vary. Practices are not mandatory but regular attendance is encouraged to get the most out of the program.

Games

There are no outside games at this level. At the end of the season, coaches may put together some fun cross ice games for players to give them a taste of real competition.

Jerseys

SPCHA provides jerseys for the Mini-Mites. The cost of the jersey is included in the registration fee. Players must provide all of their own equipment and socks.
