Girls Co-op Program - 8U-15U

The Saints hockey program is built on a strong foundation, bringing together the best of both St. Paul and West Saint Paul Girls hockey programs to create an excellent new program for girls.

At each age division, teams are grouped by ability level with practices and games tailored to each group’s ability level. While we strive to develop each player’s skills ability, we also emphasize helping players grow individually and as a team.

Questions about 6U/8U levels? Please see our 8U Registration Frequently Asked Questions page for information about how we are updating this program to optimize player experience and development.

Please see the Saints Co-op website for all the latest information about the Co-op.

Ages

This program is for players age 6 through 15.

When

Evaluations for 10U-15U levels are typically held the last two weeks of September. Team selections are typically held the first Saturday of October.

Evaluations for the 8U level are typically held the first week of October with team selections to follow within a week.

Practices will begin soon after team selections. The season goes through February and sometimes into March.

Where

Practices and home games are held at several rinks including, but not limited to, Charles M. Schulz Highland Arena, West St. Paul Arena, Pleasant Arena, Drake (SPA) Arena, and West Side Arena.

Practices

Practice schedules vary depending on the level and game schedule.

Typical number of ice times per week are:

  • 8U: 2-3
  • 10U: 3-4
  • 12U: 4-5
  • 15U: 5-6

We do not run a set schedule, so players can practice any day of the week. Practices are typically held no earlier than 5 p.m. on weekdays.

Younger players usually have earlier practices times and the Bantam players typically practice later in the evening.

Games

Teams in the 10U-15U program play full-ice games.

Each level is scheduled for 16 district games.

In addition to district games, coaches and managers will schedule scrimmages and each team will play in at least two tournaments during the season.

Jerseys

The Co-op provides uniforms for all players. Jerseys will be turned in at the end of the season.

Socks will be purchased during registration. Socks will not need to be turned in.

You can find more information about this here or under our Resources tab.

Additional Costs

Your team manager maintains a team bank account to cover expenses such as referee fees for scrimmages, additional tournaments beyond the three each team is allotted and any additional expenses the team manager/coach may anticipate.

At the start of the season each family will be asked for a deposit to get that account started. The amount varies by team, but is typically $100-$200.

Some additional fees may apply for specific teams:

  • Paid non-parent coaches
  • Teams that have paid non-parent coaches, generally some higher level 15U and/or 12U teams, will have an additional fee to help cover those additional costs if their team has a paid non-parent coach. Fees for this will be $350/player for 15U and $250/player for 12U.

  • 10U - $ 1,220
  • 10U Goalie - $ 985

  • 12U - $ 1,650*
  • 12U Goalie - $ 1,265*

  • 15U - $ 1,875

Some additional fees may apply:
12U teams that have a paid non-parent coach will incur an additional $250/player fee to help cover those costs.

15U teams that have a paid non-parent coach will incur an additional $350/player fee to help cover those costs.

* 12U registration now includes a $100 ice fee for longer games since all 12U teams in District 8 play 75-minute games now.

Some additional fees will no longer apply:
The association is covering all tournament registration fees for three tournaments per team. Part of these tournament registration fees were previously charged back to parents through team slush funds. The net result is a reduction in your overall hockey expenses.

Registration
Registration for 10U-15U is open through August 25th. Prices for these programs will increase by $50 on August 25th.

We ask all 8U players be registered by September 15th to ensure our jersey order is submitted on time.

Payments

We offer a convenient 5-month payment plan. Please note that all payments must be made online this season.

Thank you for your participation. We look forward to seeing your skater on the ice - and you at the arena!
