SPCHA's Assist26 Learn To Play Clinic Ignites Young Hockey Dreams

On Sunday, December 7th, the Chuck (Charles M. Schulz - Highland Arena) buzzed with the vibrant energy of aspiring young hockey players as we successfully hosted our 10U Learn to Play session. This exciting event was a proud component of the Assist26 legacy program, designed to grow the game of hockey in anticipation of the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship.

The clinic offered a fantastic, free opportunity for kids to hit the ice, learn fundamental skills, and experience the thrill of hockey right here in St. Paul. A key element of the clinic's success was its commitment to accessibility: equipment was readily provided by Play It Again Sports, ensuring that enthusiasm, not gear, was the only prerequisite for participation.

Young skaters received expert guidance from a dedicated team of coaches, including representatives from the St. Paul Capitals and Saints organizations. The highlight for many was the chance to learn from a true hockey legend: Taylor Chorney, a two-time IIHF World Junior Championship player and the captain of the 2007 U.S. team. His presence undoubtedly inspired many of the budding athletes.

The SPCHA extends its gratitude to all participants, coaches, volunteers, and partners for making the December 7th clinic a success, laying the groundwork for many more hockey dreams to take flight in St. Paul.
