15U Girls Co-op

Updated July 17, 2023

We will be partnering with Mounds View Irondale for our MVI-STP 15U Co-op again this season. Year one showed good compatibility and alignment with our collective ambition and focus on providing an excellent environment for Girls hockey.

Here's a few things to note:

  • Evaluations will take place after high school tryouts in early November. Stay tuned for dates on that.
  • 15U warm-ups will start mid-September with 2-3 ice times per week through early November.
  • We anticipate having three teams this season. The current plan is to have two A teams and one B team. The A teams will not be balanced. One will likely be comprised primarily of 2nd year 15U players while the other will likely be comprised primarily of 1st year 15U players.
  • Both associations will be meeting with Two Rivers, CDH, and MVI Girls Varsity coaches later this month to discuss development goals, community partnerships, and player numbers.

We look forward to continuing to build a great 15U program together with Mounds View Irondale.

Mission

Build a more competitive 15U Girls hockey program in cooperation with one another. We seek to promote player development and teamwork in a positive, supportive, and safe environment.

Identity and Uniforms

The co-op is named Mounds View Irondale-St. Paul (MVI-STP). We have a combined identity and uniform kit. We will not be asking players to purchase new helmets or breezers.

The association furnishes home and away jerseys. You will not need to purchase them. The jerseys will be returned to the association after the season.

You will need to purchase home and away socks. Once they are available to order, we will send you a link to do so.

Arenas

We plan to split ice evenly and will play primarily at Highland, Pleasant, SPA, TCO Sports Garden, Shoreview, and Super Rink arenas.

Warmups

  • Mid-September until high school tryouts

Evaluations

  • Right after high school tryouts are complete.

If your registered player is offered a spot on their high school team, SPCHA's refund policy applies: all association fees aside from $350 for administrative/ice costs would be refunded.

There will be two MVI evaluators, two St. Paul evaluators, one non-parent 15U coach evaluator.

Body Contact / Concussion Prevention Clinic (free!)

"The purpose of a body check/contact is to block the progress of the puck carrier by legally getting in their way." -USA Hockey

Just like skating, shooting and passing, contact is a skill. This session, led by Francisco Hockey, is designed to inform, educate and help prevent concussions with player safety as the top priority. Your player will gain confidence using their body on the ice.

This clinic is exclusively for our MVI-STP 15Us.

  • TBD

Outside Skills Development

We are working with Os for skaters and PGD and MEGA for goalies.
