Player Development
USA Hockey
The basis for the St. Paul Capitals Hockey Association (SPCHA) player development is the American Development Model (ADM). The ADM was created by USA Hockey as a baseline for all hockey associations across the country to develop players of all ages and abilities. All teams in the Capitals organization leverage the ADM as a way to improve players throughout the season.
The SPCHA Development Blueprint
We’re excited for another great hockey season and can’t wait to work with your player(s)! Our goal is to provide a positive, supportive environment where every player has the chance to grow—not just as a hockey player, but as a teammate and a person.
We've developed a skills development manual for coaches focused on helping each player develop their skills and confidence on the ice. We believe a key ingredient to this is keeping hockey fun. We want every practice and game to be filled with the same excitement and creativity that made us fall in love with the sport in the first place.
Our philosophy is simple: skill development is a continuous process. Every time your child steps on the ice, we’re dedicated to helping them learn, grow, and have a blast.
We’re looking forward to a great season together!
