Mite
The focus for Mites is to teach and develop the basic skills of skating, puck handling, shooting and passing. Cross-ice, half ice and small area games (Red, White and Blue) are recommended to maximize ice utilization, increase puck touches and increase the competition and fun. The American Development Model (ADM) provides the overall blueprint for player development. Players will be evaluated and placed on a team with other players of similar skills. Players must have some skating experience. Mites are a co-ed program.
Ages
The Mites program is intended for youth ages 7-9, but can include players eligible for Mini-Mites. Girls are able to skate with the boys as a Mite if they would like. We encourage 1st graders that have skating experience and have already played Mini-Mites to move up to Mites.
When
Evaluations for Mites and are typically held the second week of October with the first practices starting the mid-October and running through February.
Where
Most practices are held at Charles M. Schulz Highland Arena, but may also include Pleasant, West Side and SPA Arenas. Some practices may also be held outside at Groveland Rink. Check our Rink location page under the Resources tab.
Practices
Players in the Mites program typically practice 2-3 times per week.
Games
Mite games typically begin December 1st. Mite games should be cross or half ice for the first half of the season, ending on December 31. During the second half of the season, teams will be allowed to play up to 10 full-ice games in addition to cross/half-ice games, unless the request to play more full-ice games is approved by the District Director.
Jerseys
Additional Costs
Players placed on Mite 4 and 3 will have an additional $150 fee to cover additional ice/skills, jerseys/socks and away tournament cost increases. Mite 2 players will be assessed an additional $100 for additional ice/skills.

All Mite teams are co-ed.
Evaluations
Evaluations will begin the first week of October.
Fees
Registration fees for 2024-25 season are $500.
Additional fees may apply:
Players placed on Mite 4 and 3 teams will have an additional $150 fee to cover additional ice/skills, jerseys/socks.
Mite 2 players will be assessed an additional $100 for additional ice/skills.
Registration
We ask all players to be registered by September 15th to ensure our jersey order is submitted on time.
Payments
We are offering a 5-month payment plan. Everyone registering must choose the payment plan. No offline payments are allowed this season.
